Loops 4
This painting moves from muted blue into deep blue, then into black. The palette feels heavy — a quiet, blue kind of day.
In the Loops series, this piece continues my exploration of figure and ground — what comes forward, what recedes. The series speaks of repetition — a cycle, day after day. The deeper I go, the more I understand.
It reveals my perfectionism; I repaint as many times as it takes to reach the smoothest transition. The process is built on repeating brushstrokes, over and over, uncountable times — trying to make the surface as smooth as something digital could produce, but entirely by hand. Through this, my art and my routine became stricter. More repetitive. Yet still growing. Slowly. Slightly.
Over time, this project taught me to loosen my grip on perfection — to understand that control is only one side of growth. To push beyond it, and move closer to something real. Imperfect.
